Something that would feel right in your hands. Even if not to wield them all the time, but something that can be considered an extension of you. A sword is a sword, but it should be treated fairly like it's your own arm.
There are many ways to go about it. Some performers in my own world would incorporate them into dances and plays, stories of their own.
Sword dances, huh? It ain't the kinda thing people would wanna see me for now, but it'd go with our unit's concept. We've got a samurai with us, too. There's another group back home that does the same thing, though, and I ain't a fan of being a copycat.
